Nuffnang Exclusive - Nuffnang Glitterati

By Karthik | January 8, 2008

This post concerns Malaysians and Singaporeans who have been the loyal customers of Nuffnang.

So, which means you people would have known what this Nuffnang Glitterati really is. In summary, it’s Nuffnang being the monopoly after the downfall of another ad network that was based in Malaysia, Advertlets. For now, we do not know if Advertlets is ever going to make a comeback, since most publishers and bloggers have lost faith in them. What we know for sure now is, Nuffnang has taken one of the very smart moves to monopolize South East Asia’s advertising network!

To be a Nuffnang Glitterati’s exclusive member, you have to meet their controversial requirement, which only “a blogger that has NO advertisements from any other ad network that originates from South East Asia on his/her blog” could become eligible for it. (Please note, SOUTH EAST ASIA, which means you still are eligible to be an exclusive member even if you have other ads like Adsense, Bidvertiser and etc.)

What are the benefits of being a Nuffnang Glitterati? You get better payment rates for both cost per unique visitor and cost per click, get paid faster, be able to participate in their blog aggregator (innit.com), and earn more through more advertorials opportunities.

M-o-n-o-p-o-l-y!

But, it’s nothing wrong. They have said it clear, it is to reward their loyal publishers who have been loyal to Nuffnang by placing ONLY Nuffnang ads on their blog, unlike some blog that has all four of the ads provided by South East Asia ad networks. If you think you don’t earn much from other ad networks, then it would be a great opportunity to make yourself eligible for Nuffnang Glitterati because it benefits you, but if you are making money through other ad networks simultaneously, then you don’t really have to be eligible for an exclusive membership (But, the question is, do you make money out of the other ad networks in South East Asia?).

It all depends on you, and me, I choose not to become one, for now! Not because other ad network that originates from South East Asia is bringing me more money (moolah!!), But I am going to wait. First of all, I believe competitive businesses are good, and they strive to bring the best for their customers and clients alike (which is what I define as Healthy business). As of lately, the major blog advertising networks were Nuffnang and Advertlets. But, Nuffnang has taken advantage of Advertlets recent downfall (Yeah, that’s what I choose to call it). But as I said, I am going to wait, for a little while more, and see what has Advertlets got to offer! Whatever that brings the best benefit, would make me happy (and you too, as long as got more money, why worry?)!

So, I will wait…because Advertlets has came up with an honest and sincere apology (as Hong Kiat stated, “Advertlets are back online now and apologized, so I guess angry bloggers should calm down, NuffNang fans should chill too.“), but I couldn’t really make conclusions or assumptions, and we would not know what would Advertlets do to gain their customers and clients back untill they show it in their actions!

We will have to wait and see…and as of now, I choose to be an ordinary member in Nuffnang.

    It’s just good business xD
But I do agree that a stiff competition provides the best for us peeps suckling on the earnings from ads. If only we can get more opposition members in our gov :p

Kinda moot for me tho, since I always have been a nuffnang exclusive. I’m only earning a pittance anyway so I just stuck with the one that makes me feel better:)

k0k: I had the same idea, “if only we can get more opposition members”. Haha… Well, many people are definitely going to benefit from Nuffnang’s Glitterati new exclusivity program. To start of, I know one, You! =)

Do you know that the exclusivity program was first started by Advertlets and in it’s description below…

“Join our Asian blog advertising network exclusively and reap the benefits! (You can still use other international online advertising services such as Google Adsense & PayPerPost, without conflict to your Advertlets exclusivity).”

I believe your argument about Glitterati doesn’t hold water. All your points network monopoly, controversial regulations and stuffs like that still shoot back to Advertlets. It’s like “pot calling the kettle black”.

pikey: I wasn’t really making an argument. It was just my opinion towards their new program. It is monopoly, and it is a good business strategy nonetheless (If Advertlets has started it, it still doesnt make a difference. Nuffnang’s approach is still one that is trying to monopolize the network, at the current phase of time). The requirements can seem controversial, and I am really not making a point against Nuffnang in any way. I’m not in anyway supporting Advertlets as well. My points doesn’t hold water, because I didn’t choose sides. Maybe you already are determined which side you are in, hence I seem to contradict in your opinion =). But, all I was saying is that, for now, I’m just waiting to see what other advertising networks are going to offer, because it really gets interesting from this point onwards. And I choose to wait…As simple as that.

2008 is indeed an interesting year for us bloggers ;)

you are mistaken.competition is good for the people who pay money.who are the people who pay money… not bloggers.but advertisers.so competition is good for advertisers.but whatever is good for advertisers is not good for bloggers right?

e.g. competition causes them to lower their price for banner ads… so they get less money from advertisers.. and haf to pay less to bloggers. so,worse for bloggers

Ben: The kind of competition I was talking is that of typical business. You see, advertisers wouldn’t choose an advertising medium unless they promise the desired impressions or exposure. Therefore, advertising networks have to strive hard to reach out to publishers, and get publisher’s recognition. Publishers, are we, the bloggers. Therefore, if there exists a competition between Company A and Company B, both will strive to make better impressions on the Publishers, so that the Advertisers would gain confidence towards the Company, and hence, a clean and healthy bussiness evolves. Both Companies try to give the best benefits (for us, the bloggers as well as the advertisers), but whether the benefits offered by Company A is better than the benefits offered by Company B is what makes the whole creativity matter. And in this case, I dont think I was wrong at any particular curve. Perhaps I wasn’t stating it clearly, but it should be better now =) Hence, competition is good for both the advertisers and publishers (bloggers)!

yeah at first i was excited too becuz i am a nuffnanger.

but then come to think of it the difference between the payment of the ads for a glitteratian and an ordinary nuffnanger also is not that much also.

pinksterz: maybe their innit would be of a great motivation to choose to be a Glitteration? :p

Interesting. I like this post because it has not been bias with either but more towards coming into terms how to maximize / optimize your outcome.

The market is out there and I know for sure Nuffnang didn’t cook up this Glitterati when Advertlets didn’t renew their domain. If everyone is about competitiveness, Advertlets will need to demonstrate and live up their tag as “Asia’s Better Blog Advertising….”

    Freethinker: well said!

Nuffnang launch it at a right timing. After blogger remove Advertlets ads, they become Nuffnang Glitterati. So do you still want to put back Advertlets ads?
    For me == NO!!! :D

Jayce: It definitely did =) kudos to them..
